I was born in 1964 in Białystok, the capitol of Polish region Podlasie, a land rich in forests, marshes, meadows and wild rivers. In my young days I started to cultivate my great hobby - hiking through wild nature with a rucksack and tent. I graduated at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. In the intellectual respect, I am essentially a self-made man. I am not a 'professional' neurophysiologist, evolutionists, philosopher or even popular-science writer. I studied all these disciplines self-dependently, just by reading different books and articles, thinking and analyzing. I am mostly self-educated even in my main field of purely scientific activity - bioenergetics and computer modeling. This was a hard and time-consuming way of acquiring knowledge, but its great advantage is independence and autonomy of my opinions and ideas. I cooperated with the universities of Cambridge, Bordeaux and Kyoto. For years I was catching and ringing bats. I still like to hike in the nature, including mountains and areas behind the arctic circle.
